Suggested Refinement to Main Article Regarding Genocide Claims
[edit]The main page lists: "Israel's actions in Gaza since the start of the Gaza war have been described by international law experts, genocide scholars and human rights organizations as a genocide."
However, upon reviewing the references listed, there is debate, and the sentence should be changed to reflect the cited references. For example:
"Israel's actions in Gaza since the start of the Gaza war have been characterized by some international law experts, genocide scholars, and human rights organizations as potentially constituting genocide." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:100A:B1EC:C2FD:7412:DD43:8B41:82CD (talk) 23:06, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
Inappropriate lede about Trump
[edit]On February 5, 2025, in a joint press conference with Benjamin Netanyahu, President Trump used strong language stating the U.S. will 'take over the Gaza Strip, we’ll own it.' This remark has sparked discussions regarding U.S. policy in the region. The statement seems to signify a significant shift in strategy, although further details on what this 'take over' entails are awaited for clarity.[36][37][38]
This is the last part of the lede. Yet there is nothing in the article, particularly in the history section. This is not right. The lede should be a partial summary, not a place for new information that is not present in the article.
One possible solution is to move this paragraph to the history section. ErrorCorrection1 (talk) 06:54, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
- It should be removed. The administration is already backing off this nutty idea. Wait for the dust to settle. WP:NODEADLINE O3000, Ret. (talk) 20:39, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
- Somebody did it already. ErrorCorrection1 (talk) 22:46, 6 February 2025 (UTC)
Split section History
[edit]into History of the Gaza Strip. It's the largest section of the article without a main page. A paragraph would be left, following summary style guidelines. fgnievinski (talk) 02:22, 7 February 2025 (UTC)
- Support. The summary could be a few paragraphs long. UpdateNerd (talk) 02:40, 14 February 2025 (UTC)
- Please leave more than a paragraph (agree with UpdateNerd), but in general agree the section has exceeded WP:SUMMARYSTYLE. CMD (talk) 09:07, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
- but there is too many articles related to israel-palestine - as long of the main article is not above 15k words - i oppose the change. Astropulse (talk) 01:45, 13 March 2025 (UTC)

Clarification needed
[edit]The article says there is a genocide going on, but it also says the population is getting bigger. Both of these things can't be true. The article needs to be corrected one way or the other. Nicole Wallace from Australia (talk) 07:55, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
Size of territory
[edit]The map shown does not have a scale shown. The 141 sq. miles is fine, but as "the strip" is (mostly) rectangular, the approximate dimensions ought to be given. After a few minutes of searching, Newsweek was found to say that is it about 25 miles in length. Given the area, that comes to 5.64 miles average width. A more accurate statement should be given, that the upper portion is X1 wide and that the lower portion is averages X2. Even better would be to show the length of all six (mostly straight) edges on the map, and that could be done by anyone, submitted as an original work. This information is topical relative to current world discussion about population, relocation, etc. 73.188.46.53 (talk) 05:13, 18 March 2025 (UTC)

Description of suggested change: The 2025 Gaza war ceasefire has ended, update sentence in the lead to reflect this.
